Journal Entry

Freedoms, such as freedom of speech, religion or expression, are constitutional rights.
Imagine that today, for no apparent reason, you and your family lose these privileges. Write a journal entry expressing your thoughts about this situation.  The entry should be at least ten sentences long. Post the entry to the blog.

Due Date: Thursday, August 23, 2012
Value: 10 points

If you do not have Internet access at home, go to the library and complete the task. Please let me know (A.S.A.P) if you don’t access to the blog after school hours.

  1. Dear Journal the worst thing just happened to me and my family. Today we were minding our own business when all of a sudden the government tells us that we lost our privileges of freedom of speech and religion or expression. I’m really mad at this situation because we didn’t do anything so that the government could take our privileges. This is not something u can just take away from us. We are human beings and we deserve those things but I guess that the government doesn’t think we are human’s maybe they think were aliens or something. Anyways I think that they shouldn’t do this to us or any other family because freedom is something that comes from each and every one of us and taking that away is like taking a big part of us and throwing it away. I don’t know why they did this but I really hope they change things back to normal. For whoever read my journal never let anyone take you’re privileges there yours and u should do everything u can to keep them. I’m hoping that this will pass but I must wait. We all have rights… so let’s fight for them!

Today I just found out that my family and I have lost our constitutional rights. Why? I'm not very sure. Will we be able to practice our religion, will we have freedom of speech, will we be able to express ourselves? Many families are losing their constitutional rights every day. The government is messed up nowadays. The government apparenty don't remember about the U.S. Constitution "We the people...". The Constitution clearly says that we have rights, and no one should be able to take them away from us, not even the government. We should'nt just sit around and let this happen. We need to fight for the rights we have and that were given to us.

    1. Dear journal I just lost my constitutional rights this morning. By the time I went to school I felt if I was an alien. Everybody looked at me if I was some terrorist or an illegal immigrant. I wasn't the only 1 to feel the damage most of my Hispanic, Islamic, and Asian friends felt it to. The only people that haven't been affected are the kids that mock us for our ways its because we have a richer culture than theirs. If the country is supposedly democratic why does it do this to us. What have we done to deserve this. If you compare this to slavery its 75 percent the same because we don't have any single right at all. They also criticize if you have a different way of life stile or culture and that is "suppose" to give them a reason to do this. If they don't fix this there be a point that world war 3 will happen... Cristian Quiñones 10-2

  5. Today i just lost my constitutional rights. losing my freedom would be extremely bad for me because then i would not be allowed to take my own decisions and would go crazy beacause i hate bossy people. i think that freedom is very important for every one because no one likes to be stuck to doing everything that other people tell them. religion is also very important becase we all need someone to believe in and that leadership that it gives us to feel safe. also,we should be able to have the right vote because it should be the people who decide not some random guy!. because how can people let just one human decide the fate, economy and state of the whole nation? i think that there would be a little peace in the world. at the same time, i still believe that freedom should be for all the world....and it might make it a little bit better

  6. A war started a couple weeks ago, our country against China. Our house is located in one of the safest areas in the country. But, all of the sudden, Chinese troops infiltrated our house today and took us hostage. We are now held as their slaves and lost all of the privileges and rights we once had. Life is terrible now, can’t do anything and can’t say anything by my own. My family and I can’t do anything anymore; we have to follow their rules and can’t do anything about it. We lost our freedom of speech, religion and expression. We basically have an invisible tape covering our mouths as the chains maintain us in a place where suffering is eminent. Something we took for granted everyday and didn’t really give any importance to, now it’s lost. Now that its lost I understand the importance of this rights. Having no freedom makes me feel like I am nobody and makes me feel inferior. Our lives need this rights, without them we are nothing.

  7. Officially, this is the worst day ever. Freedom is the right that all human being should have. But just suddenly human beings don't deserve to have rights. This is a big injustice. Now, every thing we are, say, or do will be bad. Before this happened I didn't really think freedom was that important. We all, didn't realize that freedom is a right that should never be taken away from a human being. But now that I don't have any of that, I miss so much my freedom. I feel like a puppet. I need to do, be and say what ever they tell me to. I can't be myself, I have no personality at all. I feel that everything around me is the same, everything is so quite since then. I feel like this is not really me because I can't say what I really want to. But the question is how am I going to get used to this if my whole life I've been free of saying whatever I wanted. And just now I can't. Now everything feels like a different and fake world, where no one can be themselves.

  8. Dear Journal:

Today I just discovered that my family and I had lost our privileges. I really don’t know why. At one time we can say or do what ever we want. And now, we are just nothing. They are going to make the choices for us. What we are going to do? They think because they are the government they can do with our lives what they want. They don’t control us, we are not robots we have feeling. I think that our privileges, our religion and our way of expression is a think that we, the people, have to do by ourselves. This is not fair. We have to fight for what we want. I said please people, believe in yourselves, do what you think is right and fight for it.

It was early in the morning when suddenly I found out that my family and I were deprived of our constitutional rights. The reason for this, I’m not well aware of yet. I was no longer able to speak my mind or make my own decisions. We must follow their rules and ideas even if we completely disagree; we have no right to speak out anymore. I believe it’s unfair every family and every person should have their rights, something like that should not be taken away from us, especially for no reason. We should be able to talk freely, express our self in our own ways, and chose our religion and our beliefs. No matter what gender, sexuality, origin, or religion every person should have the same rights, it’s stated clearly in the constitution. I hope things go back to the way they were soon I don’t know how much longer I can stand it. It’s funny to think that yesterday we never really paid any mind to things like this. It goes to show that we never really appreciate what we have on till its gone.

Something is wrong. This morning something terrible happened. My family and I have just lost our constitutional rights. We were very confused when we found out. We thought this would never happen to us. I think this is unfair because everyone deserves a chance to express themselves. It is not right to tell someone the religion they should practice. Every person should have the chance to think their own way. No one, not even the government should tell us how we are suppose to think. That's why we had our constitutional rights; the very same ones that were taken away from us for no apparent reason. I think we are going to have these rights again because if they don't give them back, something bad could happen. I am just going to wait and be calm because I know this problem is going to be solved very soon.

  12. Dear Journal:

Today is the worst day of my life. I just have been asking my self why? Since my mother told me that we lost our constitutional rights. I’m very upset and disappointed. I feel that my soul fall apart. Are you telling me that some strange people are going to control my life? I still in search for the reason. IT HAS NO SENSE! I remember yesterday when I debate with a teacher because I disagree her opinion, when I was catholic and I was proud of it and when I didn’t like what I was watching I just told them “ I don’t like the way you are with me or the way it was” I’m so confused. I just cannot realize my self like this, I don’t get used to. Yes I know, is my first day living like this and it will take time getting used to it but, with no freedom? I just feel like in Cuba! Where the people have no freely opinion. And I know that I’m not the only one felling like this, my family it is too. We are the type of persons that believe that every person should have the same rights.I just hope that some day this way of living ENDS.

    Title: LOST
    By: Giancarlo L. Vargas Alers

Today, I have lost a great portion of my self-being; I have lost my freedom. With it completely gone, my life barely has a meaning and what it bears in actuality can only be described in two words: pain and suffering. I suffer because...because of the emptiness in myself now that the one thing I cherished the most is now gone!!! Empty words flow out of my godforsaken mouth, selfless and meaningless acts are executed in a futile attempt to follow orders, thinking is now done by our "superiors" and if someone dares to refuse to submit to this ruling, punishment will follow afterwards. It seems like EVERYONE has been attached to some invisible strings and their selfish puppeteers deprive them of showing any gesture of emotion even though everyone’s soul thrives it. Apparently, the U.S's "We the people" Constitution has completely lost its meaning due to whatever is causing this predicament and is achieving the complete opposite. How could this have happened all of the sudden?!?! Everything we humans live for...a simple "I Love You" to let someone know how you feel about them...a hug to express gratefulness or kindness to someone...a goodnight kiss from a mother to her child as the moonlit night passes by quietly...all that...gone for good...But you know what I think? I think...we should overcome the pain and suffering to do something I’m willing to bet no one will ever attempt to achieve as long as we live in this accursed world shrouded by darkness and corrupted by lies. We should consider that even in the deepest of darkness there is always a faint ray of light and hope and that we should look inside ourselves and think: "Is this how I really want to spend the rest of my life, living as a fake?” I don’t know what whoever reads this thinks but my answer is NO!!!I don’t want to live like this. I want to fight along with whoever is willing to go against this unjust act of tyranny; to fight for what I think is right; to fight for my freedom. I WANT TO BE THE LIGHT IN THIS EVERBLOOMING DARKNESS!!!

Its has been a month since my family and every other family in the USA lost their rights. The government are trying to make a better world controlling each and every decision made. Not letting us the people decide to.They are thinking is the best way.I seen these changes in my school.I used to like it until all of this happen. In my school everyone share there ideas and opinions.Now... when to my mind come the word school,it just comes a boring place with nothing to do just what we are told.Art class was my favorite class because the teacher teach us how to express our self. Now we are prohibited to do such amazing thing. We have to do what we are told, to draw what we are told. This is crazy.O love to draw but i cant draw with feelings.WE cant expressed ourselves ,we cant talk about our believes and we can defend ourselves because its consider a crime. This may all be happening but i still have fate to see the future when everyone is treated the same. A world wich our minds aren't trap but free .

For me and my family, life has always been though, its gonna be thougher now. The government decided to take away most of our rights. We can have no religion, no constitutional rights nor freedom of speech. It's really amazing to think that we will be back in the Dark Ages. The worst thing is that my family and I can not speak our mind to share our ideas to the world. It's like a jail, and our minds are locked up in tiny cells With no privileges. Life should no be like this. I'm not sure if other countries have also made this decision, but I don't want the world to be controlled by the government. That's why I think someone should do something about this. I had plans, big plans of being a philosopher, sharing my thoughts and ideas to the world and changing it, those plans are gone now. Why does the government do this? I don't know. I just think everyone should have the right to express theirselves, no matter age, sex, race.. That's just wrong. I hope God helps us all.

  16. Today my life changed in a drastical way! The US government decided to take away my rights, our rights, which our ancesters fought very hard for. There is no sense in this, how are we gonna live in a place where our voice its not important enough for anyone to be heard. We have no free expression now, it feels like we're back in the medieval times. This is not the goverment i voted for. It's not fair that my voice can't be heard but they'res can! They dont think of consecuenses, this might start another war against each other. If they think im just gonna shut up and do whatever they want well, they are WRONG! I work for my money, i pay for my house, my food, its my business and as long as they dont give me anything im opossing to this! I didnt vote for them so they could take away my rights. If I wanted the president to take away my rights I might as well just move to the country Fidel Castro rules, that would be better than living in a state like this! I would fight till i get my freedom back! No one tells me what I can say or what i cant! This is Kaila Talavera and i will fight for you. I will give you back your freedom and rights! Kaila for president 2012! Good day!

My family tell my that soon all of this will end but I have to do something to get back my rights. I don't imagine the world living like this. My live don't have sense any more. The only option I have is to fight for them. I hope that this end because I don't want that my live end like this. If someone understand me fight with me for our constitutional rights.

What a surprise! I've just been told that our constitutional rights have been taken way from us.Really? Thats just the icing on the cake, I knew our gornment was making some bad choice but this is it! Its suppost to be THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE, not THE LAND OF THE PRISONERS AND THE HOME OF THE AFRAID. Civil rights were written, granted and proclaimed by our previous generations of visionaries founding fathers, thry thought by then in leaving a heritage of our Bill of Rights. No one should to take them away, no one for no apparent reason should take them away. Martin Luther King left us his message, that we are all equal and with many undiscriminatory rights. I want to fight for my rights. Im not giving up until this is over.

  19. This morning, I was talking with my friends some issues against the government. Something that is very common in our daily lives. But when I got home the police were waiting for me. Without saying a word, I was under arrest. When asked, why I was under arrest? They answer: Because you are speaking against the government. I wonder if it's a joke, and they all expressed the same. They replied that my friends were also under arrest and will go to jail too, and pushed me. Now I understand how necessary fundamental rights such as religion and expression are. You can live in a country, but without your freedom and constitutional rights you will live like you're a prisoner. Cherish your freedom and defend it to be able to keep it with you.

Why us humans, the only beigns with the priviledge of analyzing, are forbidden freedom of speaking our minds and expressing our imagination? We should have the right to do anything we desire...after it's not killing anyone of course. The government is not our master, we must not be controlled by it like puppets. We should be free of strings and able to discover what's out there. Beign told what to believe in?...Hmph, who are they to deside what my beliefs are? Nobody, that's who! I am not going to follow. I am a very different person as is everyone and I have a voice and I can make a choice. They cannot tell me what to do forever. I am going to rage against their so called power. Tonight the war starts. My family is against the goverment and many others. They are going to join our cause. We will be seen as outlaws after what may happen. It is our liberty and we want to be heard again. We are people not pets. Now I just have to shut my mouth and copy what I’m feeling in this journal. Life is supposed to be freedom, not like a prison, the only one that decides our future is god and ourselves. Soon enough we will be invisible is like we dint even exist, we will be useless without are liberty. Government I’m not going to stop because you just want me to stop. I’m a human just like you people I know I’m not rich, but I’m going to get to the end of this. If today for no apparent reason my family and me lose the privilege of freedom I would definitely go against it. I think we all have the privilege of freedom and no one should oppose, just because the same rights you have, I have. Everyone has different ways of thinking and expressing that’s why we should respect other opinions and that has to do with freedom. You should be able to think deliberately and know that everyone is free until we lack the moral. Today they decide took away those privileges I swear they’ll have to take me to jail definitely. I will not stand someone to tell me and my family that we don’t have the right to speak up. That’s why will meet with other people and will strike! That is not right and will show them they cannot do with us what they want. It’s unbelievable how they think they can do with us whatever they want and some people let them. Well, no today we fight for our rights, this is unacceptable and I will not sit with folded hands neither will you!

God created us to speak our opinions and what we think. We need to fight for our rights. If we don't have rights the countries would have many problems. We have created a bad world full of sadness , hate and we don't even worry enough to fix this, we just create more problems and take out our privileges. The people will become very angry and go on many labors strikes. We also need a religion that teaches the word of God. People would forget their values. The governors and presidents don't think of this , they just think of what's convenient for them. I hope that my family ond the other people have their rights again.

My family and I received a letter that explain us that we lose the freedom to speech, religion or expression. We were surprised but we recognized that no one have the right to take these privileges away from us.But if these occur we need to stand up for our rights as a family and as a citizens. These basic rights like the freedom to express our opinions are essential to us for maintain our natural rights to live our lives and organize as a society. I think that any person should be the freedom to pertain to their favorite religion. People need to have these privileges that permit us to interact with others and to fill the need of membership or personal belong. If we don't have these privileges we can't work as a society. Every person should be these rights to fight against injustice. All of us need to work to maintain these important privileges.

  27. The governor just announced that we no longer have the rights to express ourselves or to practice the religion that we prefer. That is some devastating news, just to think the fact that I will have to go to a different church makes me sad. I’m sure that it’s not going to be the same thing as it was on the other church, there are going to be new people and the worshiping is obviously not going to be the same. After all that I have learned at this church now I’m going to move to the one that I know is not the best for me. Also there’s the fact that I’m not going to be able to express myself, I can’t say what I want because like the governor is the one that took those wrights away, there are obviously going to be some consequences. That would be like a communist system were we can’t express ourselves. What if when we say something that we are not supposed to say they get us arrested or even worst they kill us. The world is going to become a big prison, were we can’t say anything without risking our lives. Not even five minutes have past and my family is already planning on how to escape from Puerto Rico. We just became a rebel family because we don’t care where we need to go, the only thing we care if to have the freedom to express what we feel and not what the government whant us to express.

Now that we lost the freedom we had, people might start telling us to go doing what they want us to do.These could be the examples: Following their religion, go on with their culture or do whatever they tell us to do. I believe that this is wrong and if this happened to anybody, they would have been protesting or leaving to another place. It is very devastating and sad. It's not fair at all. We must fight for our rights and be an example to others so that we might earn our rights back. I wouldn't like to be seen or treated as an outlaw nor my family. We feel like in a jail that we will never get out, if they have the right to tell a lot of lies then we should have the right to be free and express how we feel about their injustice. This is getting me pissed so at one point we are going to explode and create a revolution so they shouldn't mess with us.This is our life and we do what we want (obviously not illegal). Our life is hard so we already had enough of this nonsense. They just lost our trust along with their sanity.I think we should stand out and fight for our freedom and justice!.

  31. Dear journal:
For some reason my family and I lost all of our privileges and I don't think is fare. I think that everyone is supposed to have the same privileges with out any exclutions. This actually makes me mad because they are "trying" to make us understand or be the same but actually they are transforming us prisioners. I also think they are making us like their puppets trying to control us, but we can't actually "do something" because it would be like illegal or something. Sometimes I start to think like how it's going to be our future from now on if this keeps going the way it is. Actually, I don't think this is gonna takes us anywhere because everyone should have their own opinions and ideas of what they are going to do with their lifes. Is like if we had to do everything like everyone else just because someone wanted to. It's going to be actually sad to think about the new generations because they will never experience new things or have their own ideas. I'm sorry for them and it breaks my heart just to think they are gonna spend they'r lifes like little robots who gets controled by orders. Everything is going to be different and not fare but just like Jimi Hendrix said "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace".

  32. Well if my family and I lose this privileged I will hope it’s for good because we never know how will be the world without freedom. The people always think about the freedom and they don’t think about who don’t deserved. I am not saying that having freedom is bad I am saying that we don’t know how to appreciate because some people used to hurt people or contaminate the world. If the government implant some strict law and reduce the freedom the world will be safer. Why the world will be safer? Because the world demands respect and honor and with all the freedom we have, the world can get that. So, I think if the people appreciated the freedom and know how to use it, the world will be different and the people will have respect and they would not take freedom for anyone. But I would not like that my family and I lose are freedom because I am use to it but that doesn’t mean that less freedom can be are solution for the world. Maybe more freedom can be the solution maybe not. So I agreed that we need to reduce the freedom or to appreciate so we can have a better world. The freedom is the best gift that life can give us so we need to appreciate and live it. att Kenneth Seda 10-2

    Dear Journal:<3

Today was like any other common day in my life, I went to school, then church, and finally home. I was lying on my bed when suddenly BAM! my front door was destroied by some police officers, I ran down stairs, my mom, dad, and brother on the floor, traped by those maniac officers. We didn't know why this was happening, but as good citizens we obey the law and went to some dark room surronded by people staring at us while some wierd guy tells us that we just lost our constitutional rights. We didn't knew what to think, what to do, were so confused, sad and mad. Why!? We all have the same rights to express ourselves and give our opinion. Noone deserve a goverment who's thoughts are horrible for most of their country. It's not fair either for us to be told of what we got to belive and what we don't. God made us physically different but with the same rights no matter age, color, size, religion, etc. I hope in God this unfairness end as soon as possible. Amen.

  34. Today I woke I woke up early in the morning which I don't usually do. I woke up at 9:00am and was ready for a fresh start of my day. Right when I thought nothing could go wrong, my parents come up to me and let me know that we just lost our constitutional rights. Why would lose something so essential in the human life? This world will end up so boring without these freedoms. I have no idea how I'll manage to get used to something like this. I'm not sure how ANYONE expects people to get used to this. But it doesn't matter if we lost this, I'm sure no one will stop giving their own opinions and believing on what they think is right, no matter who tries to keep them from doing so. I don't know what the rest of the people will end up doing, but what I know is that no matter who tries to get my natural rights off me, I will keep having these freedoms. Even if it means I'll have to watch out for the law.

    Dear Journal,
The scariest, most horrible thing happened to my family and I today! Well, it's probably not the most horrible thing, but it really does scare me! The government told my family that we had lost our rights to freedom of speech, expression, and religion. I'm so confused! What could we have possibly done to deserve this?! I mean, it IS written in the constitution that EVERYBODY has the right to these things... right? I wonder if they did this to any other families. I don't think it could be just us. What ever the case,I can't let this happen. I don't know what is going to happen, or what I'm going to do. All I know is, I am NOT going to take this lying down.

  36. It was a windy and rainy day I felt like there was something wrong, my fifth sense was telling me something but it was too late. The president was forced to sign a contract that took away all liberty and expressing of all the americans. Now we are all forced to be merely robots with no feelings no rights just work eat and go to bed. They can do anything with us we have no vote no priviledge no property, nothing, we have nothing... Now i look at the skyes and i just look at gray with white i feel nothing, is it because im not allowed? maybe. But i will not stay put we will all rise from the ground ant take whats rightfully ours! Theres millions of us and some of them what could go wrong...

  37. Dear Journal I feel trapped inside a tiny little box and i can't changed it. I wish everything would change, I want my rights back. We all deserve freedom of expression, like the word says that's how we express our self. I believe we can all choice what religion, politics and what to say we deserve it. With out these rights I feel like if we were a pack of robots controlled by a superior who doesn't believe in anything. Why should I have to feel these way? Why should we have to put up with these? After all we are people and people should have the right to scream what they feel and believe in want they want. Isn't that why God created a freewill. I just wish someone would open these tiny little box and let me free like a bird so a could spread my wings and fly.

today was a normal day like any other, but suddenly at night , my mom told me we had lost all of our constitutionals right .I was shock and confuse, i really didn't know what to think. I found no reason for it! We had been good... so why take away our rights ? then i ask my mom if she knew something about it. But from the look on her face i suppose she didn't knew either. from that moment on i felt, like if i was part of some where else, almost like an immigrant. It was a terrible felling. But i know i'll have to get used to it. But i wont stop fighting until i get what i deserve.

  40. Dear Journal Today was a beautiful day unlike any other It was great i thought it was going to be the best day ever, until my parents came home with some disturbing news. We lost our freedom. I was shocked as was my family and i started too think :Is this the beginning of a new war?? are we going to go trough this again? How did this happen? Why is it important to have rights u may ask? because not everyone has the same way of thinking and some people may not agree on how one leader one person runs the whole country or on how they make their decisions. Is not fair for others. So I will fight on for my rights until the end

  41. Dear Journal:

I just found out that the government has taken my family's contitutional rights, how can this be; What did we ever do to deserve this. I want to have a serious talk with the governor and it's faculty, I do not approve of this. For instant if this would of happen to the governor's family ... Who am I kidding this would never happen to them. . My family is a hardworking giving people and we surely do'not deserve this. The urge of speaking my mind out its killing me. What would happen to us if we speak our minds outs. Would they beat us up? Kill us? Such cruel people among us and they had to pick us instead? I feel like a penguin without it's fur.. it's just not right. You know what tomorrow morning I shall walk to that office and demand to speak with the governor. Even if this kill me I know i fought for my family's right. I did everything on my favor to help my family. This is what we dream, live, think of ... This is like our peanut butter to our jelly, it's just necessary to live .

  42. Everyone should be entidled to their opion weather its diferent or not.We all have different ways of thinking and deserve the right to express what we feel or think.Peolple should not be punished for being diferent and having something to say. We are all equals and nobody should tell us whats wrong or right to say because what is right for you may or may not be right for me it all depends on our values. If God would of wanted everyone to think or be a certain way he would made everybody exactly alike, but he didnt which means that everybody is diferent aand should have the right to express it! think its extreamly unfair for someone to decide for all of us what our religion and thoughts should be like, what makes him better than me to decide? A world without self expression would be like a world without color. Our opinion is what makes us us and if that is taken away what else can help us define our personality. We deserve to practice the religion that we are more comftarble with and say speak our mind!

  43. Freedom. What is freedom? What are we without all those constitutional rights we were born with? What will be our future without all those freedoms? What would be the governor without all these things? I would like to ask all these questions to the inconsiderate people who just entered my house this afternoon, and told us they took away all our constitutional rights. This is just unfair. Don't they think about if it was their family? Well I think they don't have that sort of meaning in their brain's dictionary. I know we aren't the only ones passing through this situation, and maybe they aren’t conscious of many consequences. My sister says she feels like a slave. And I thought about it, it makes kind of sense. Well from now on literally I DON'T HAVE FREEDOM. It's like being in jail. Since the world was made, God gave us freedom, so why do these group of people who work for governors take it away. It's just unfair. I don't even want to think on how this world is going to end up if they keep on taking away our rights. I still and always will believe in my God, and that’s the only thing they can't take away: my faith in him.
