Instructions: Read the written prompt and respond. Your response should be at least 10 sentences
long.
Have you ever felt
racist yourself? Be open and honest
about this because even tiny things like a sarcastic joke or an internal
opinion can be included in racism. Why
do you feel as though you have formed this opinion and do you want to change it?

Dear journal #2 in all of my life I’ve been thought that every human being is the same. Doesn’t matter from where u come, what’s your skin color or how u look, we are all the same. I don’t think of myself as racist because I don’t hate people from other skin colors. Sometimes I just make jokes and they might be a little racist but I never intend to hurt someone. One thing that I can’t believe is that in the olden times black people were used as slaves and where hated on. First things first black people are just like white people they have feelings and it’s inhumane if u disrespect and torture them. If it wasn’t for Martin Luther King there would have been a lot more racism today. I feel very bad for those people that are hated because of their color and also because I’ve spoken some racist stuff but I do feel very bad for that and I will never intend to hurt someone. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect that means that u can’t go on insulting people for no reason. The world is always changing but it won’t change unless u want it to change.

ReplyDeleteToday I saw a women walking on the streets, she was like 55 years old. She wanted to buy something on the grocery store. She asked the manager “Excused me Sr. Where are the vegetables”. The man respond, “Please take this women out of my store I don’t want black people her” I saw that. I was shock for a second. I didn’t know that racism has evolved so fast. I can’t believe people do that. Where are all the same, what’s the only think that change, the skin color.? Omg! I’m so impressed. Imagine how you would feel if someone treats you that way. They do that to black people because they don’t know how that feels. I’m really not racist, I like the people for what they are, not for what they look. Sometimes the black people are nicer persons than the white ones. Don’t do want you wouldn’t want people to do to you.

ReplyDeleteToday I was taking a walk when I saw something that caught my attention. Paste to the window of a store was a paper that said that they were looking for employes, but that wasn't what got my attention. What got my attention was that in the bottom of tha paper said that they will not accept black people. I stare at the paper in shock. I could not believe that they could that way,so racist. In my opinion it dosent matter what color, gender or place the person is,everybody deserve to be treated with respect and ecually. After all who are we yoy jugde? We should treat people the way you want them to treat you no matter what. Because we dont want people to jugde us. Speacially if they dont know us.

ReplyDeleteone day at an airport we were late to the flight and i was just about to go in , but they stopped me and asked to check my bag just me and my family. Because of that we lost the flight, it was racism because it was at Florida airport and they were all white and just because we were Puertoricans they stopped us. People are really racist and ignorant and that gets me really mad, because our skin color don't matter its stupid is just a color and how we look like. I would really like to change this eliminating all stereotypes because that's the cause of all this discrimination. Some people racist think by being white blonde with blue eyes is being perfect well i think being any color is being perfect because all colors are beautiful. In an artwork if we use only for example white it'll be just a simple paper but if we use all the colors it will be a beautiful painting. And that's why all of us it doesn't matter if we are white, black, yellow, even blue we are all humans and we all can do something productive for the future. So let's not discriminate now because in the future that black boy that you used to bother in school might be you'r boss. People please let's be mature and respect!

I believe in the human equality in spite of their color, characteristics and race. But through my life I can see and hear how many people or groups treats a person because of its color, characteristics or race.I know that racism is a discrimination or prejudice directed against someone that is different to us based on a belief. I'm not consider myself racist. But being honest in an ocassion that I saw a Chinese pitcher, I told my mother that him was like a monkey because of his facial characteristics. I remembered my mom's reaction, she scolded me and told me that she considered my comment a racism. I think that racism results in people separation and resentment. I feel that we as a society should be more honest and work with the racism situation beginning in our house and with the kids. Many people said that they're not racist but they are racist. Many people have an internal opinion about other people that never express; opinions that are racist but they don't accept that are racist. For me all of us are equals, specials and important.
Thank you for your honesty.
DeleteDear second journal:
ReplyDeleteI've sometimes seen people that are "different" than others. Maybe we say that because they are too short,or way tall,or maybe their skin color is different than yours,or you considerate them poor or richer than you and so many things more but that doesn't make you superior than others.I think is disrespecful to judge people by their looks if you don't even know them. I confess that I laughed sometimes at people but then I feel bad because I kinda get in their position and it has to be horrible. I don't think anyone has the right to judge people just because they don't look "normal" to you. I personally try to talk to those people and if I'm lucky they are my friends. I also think that being racist is a type of bullying but you don't really look at it that way. When I see others making fun of someone it makes me angry because those kind of bullies have no idea what is like to suffer maybe every day by their looks. People like this should be treated the same way. Maybe they don't think they are bullies but they actually are. Personally I'm against it and thats why everyone should take the pledge and together make it end.

Title: JUDGEMENT
By: Giancarlo L. Vargas Alers
As these few years of life have befallen upon me, I’ve coexisted with all types of races and people at some point of it and due to the fact that I have, I think I might have a word or two to say about this so called racism. First of all, I would like to say that to me, it doesn’t matter if your black, white, Asian, Mexican, heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, a travesty, Christian, an atheist, Mussulmen, deaf, blind, voiceless, legless, armless, so long you treat me nicely and with respect. Now then, with that said, I’ll continue with my thoughts about racism. I didn’t get racist people back in the day and I get them less now a days. All of the stereotypes and other kinds of insults racists create just to have someone to make fun of or to criticize; disgusting. The worst part of it all is that racist say what they say knowing that even though every person is different, we are all connected because of one thing: our heart. A heart that can feel happiness, sadness, anxiety, rage, love, depression, anguish, pain, fear and all other emotions if known how to tamper with it. We feel all of these emotions regardless of our physical appearance and racists want to make us believe this element that mends us all together doesn’t exist. They don’t look at THEIR imperfections before looking into everybody else’s; that…is just sad. Now, to finish this, I would like to make a calling; a calling to all those who feel discriminated not just because of the color of their skin, but because of their nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or just because of a physical imperfection. To all of you I say this: do not listen to those who are trying to discourage, dishearten, dispirit or depress the person that you are for they were created to bring down judgment upon no one. Learn to feel delighted about yourself; for it is the first step you must take for others to acknowledge your blissful existence. Accept others as they are inside and out if you would like to be treated likewise. Don’t allow your weaknesses’ to wear you down and learn to overcome them. Feel thrilled because of your strength’s and achievements and don’t be satisfied with just that; leave your comfort zone and aim higher to accomplish more than you have ever imagined.
I never experienced racism like that. But it reminds me of the "brony flame war" thing thats going on... its like WW3. people just cfight because there opinion is the right one. And thats wat i think of racism. Im Moises and I aprove this message..:)
ReplyDeleteMy mom always told me that my grandfather was racist. And there's this story about when my aunt was younger. Well, she had a black boyfriend, and my grandfather always fought with her because he didn't like him. My grandfather's reasons for not liking him were because he was not a good man and worst because he was black. So my aunt dump her boyfriend because she didn't wanted any kind of problems with my grandpa.
ReplyDeleteI need to confess that I'm a little racist too. Even though, I have Eiris as a friend and she Mexican. I don't like Mexicans that much because my godparents had a Mexican friend and he always bothered me and since then there's something that makes me really don't like them.

ReplyDeleteMaybe we all have felt racist even in minor ways. But part of the blame is because of today’s society. Although we ourselves are not racist, there are still other people that are. Racism is also shown in movies, books and sometimes even pictures or paintings. About 60 years ago, racism was much worst and everything was separated between blacks and whites. I don’t quite understand that but, we might be different skin tones, speak different languages, live in different places, have different cultures, but we are all equal. We are all humans, and we have more similarities than differences. How would you feel if the racism were towards you? I don’t think anyone would feel good. We don’t need racism; we just need to respect each other.

Journal # 2
ReplyDeleteMy parents moved to Puerto Rico from New York City to raise me. About eight years ago when my mother went to vote for the first time, she experienced some minor racism. The first time she went to get the information on what she needed. The second time they asked her if she was an American, my mom answered yes. They told my mother because she is not puertorican she had to come back the next day with her birth certificate to be able to vote. People that are puertorican don’t need a birth certificate to vote, but people that have been living here for years that are American do. That means that when I’m able to vote I will experience the same minor racism. Even if it wasn’t anything drastic it still makes you feel different. Racism could be people from the same place hating on each other, someone from a different place, or someone from a different gender. It doesn’t have to be whites against blacks; racism can be shown in many different ways and at times levels.

In this journal I talk about racism. A few times I have felt racist because I laugh when others tell o joke about people that are fat, nerds, gay, ugly or their color of skin is darker. We are used to our friends telling racist jokes and we don't notice that we are racist. Everyone is the same , we are people that have defects. We can't judge people because they have things that we don't like. I want to change this , because I'm a person that day to day wants to be a better person.I accept that I have defects. Also I don't know if when I become an adult I will have a son that is gay , fat or other things. I hope that my friends and my family think like me and better there lives. God created us to love and respect one another.
ReplyDeleteThis prompt remember me the time of Rosa Parks, who was recognized as the "mother of the modern day civil rights movement". Parks was tired of segregation and racism one day she refused to give up her seat to a white man. She got arrested but, this was the start of a revolution of civil rights. So Martin Luther King organized a protest against bus segregation, he decided to be totally integrated.
ReplyDeleteI talk about this because is an example that racism have been for long time ago but these persons, mentioned before, refuse to felt rejected because their skin color. Martin Luther king fought for African-American civil rights; from that point black people are less rejected.
Honestly I have never felt racist maybe, because on these time skin colored people have the same rights as white people. But on my grandpas time on the schools white student tried to make black students inferior. I'm the type of person mentality that everyone should be treated equally. So, I would not let some treat me less than because my color, religion or nationality.
I never experience racism my self but I have watch people do it. Racism is a very difficult them because you can be doing it with out knowing. Like for example when you are with friends telling jokes and suddenly some one tell a bad joke about persons with a different nationality and you laugh. I really don't know if in Puerto Rico racism is a very comom thing but I know that in the USA it is. Now that I remember when I was 13 years old I saw a picture I think it was from Disney parks that say no dogs, no food and no puertoricans. I don't know if it was a joke or something but when I saw that I was like really mad. They where like telling that we are animals or something like that. I think racism is like making a judgement of someone without knowing them. We sometimes judge people because of where they come from or what people have tell about them. I think that some people don't know what they're doing but others do. I think that after reading this you should know how racism looks like now you have the choice of continue doing racism or put a stop to it. This world needs a change be the difference.

I’ve personally haven’t been in any racist experience maybe sometime I tell some racist jokes which I am not proud off but I have been around many racist people Like one time one of my friends started insulting a girl and talking behind her back just because she was fat and that wasn’t right because u don’t know if she has a condition so u should not judge someone just by there appearances.

When I was little, my aunt gave me a black doll for Christmas. I told her that the doll was awful and that I didn't like it so I threw it away, just because it was black. I was only 6 year old and I always thought that blacks where ugly and that I did not want them near me. I always said that I would marry an american (white) but things hace changed since those days. Now, I don't have any problems with black people. Maybe I had them before because I was too little and did not have the knowledge I have now. I consider I was maybe racist when I was little but now I don't consider me racist. Now I have very good friends who are black and don't fear them or repel them. Life should be shared with everybody without any restrictions or problems. I love my life and love others.

ReplyDeleteJournal #2 Racism
Starting this journal I have to say that I haven’t been racist with black people at all. In fact I absolutely like people with color I feel comfortable around them. Although I have to admit I’ve said jokes discriminating white people just because of their prejudice tendencies directed to non-white people. Now I don’t want people thinking I’m racist with white people because I’m not. Only I don’t feel fine being around a person who discriminates me for my color as has happened before. I also don’t think everyone tells racist jokes badly it can just be to laugh a little and have fun without hurting anyone. Black and white people are the same we shouldn’t judge because of skin color. I do know it’s not nice to think like I think but it is something unfortunate that our rounding’s has accustom us. As some people now there not only racism for skin color, people also discriminate countries, cities and regions; which I also don’t agree. Finally I say according to the different generation that will come in the future we should let go this unpleasant thing to reject people just because of their skin tone and place they come from.
By starting journal I am not racist for any kind I was raised and loved by colored people. This was set in 2007 in Florida Walt Disney. I was in a group of children and teens waiting in line for Toy Story ride. I started to tell Asian jokes to my new friends when all the sudden I hear pad in my back. It was a 14 year old Asian telling me that he felt offended. I said my apologize but he started mocking me and started saying that that how he feel. So what I did he cant feel offended by everything. I tried to tell him that fine we are not perfect but most jokes are mad for the purpose that sometimes we do those acts without conscious. Maybe some off them are harsh but some are just facts. We started saying jokes to each other and we became best of friends. The way I can change this is to see if its cool to tell steriotipical jokes because some people understand and knows to joke around.
ReplyDeleteDear Journal,
ReplyDeleteToday i was thinking and i realized that at times we might be racist without even knowing we are weather we mean it in a joke or not. In our classroom we fool around making comments about african american people but wich is racist because our skin color doesnot make us superior or inferior. We live in a society were we are constantly judged by our skin color, weight, personality,or ethnicity and that might makes us think that its ok to be racist but its not. What we see on tv and magazines reffering to beauty is mostly whith skinny people and that influences us to have a closed minded concept of what beauty really is.Our history influences these racist thoughts because in the pass they were wars and lots of hate crimes because of it. At times people look down on others because of their ethnicity.most of the time people take this as a joke but its not we never know when somebody might feel offended and it when serious problems come. I have to admit I have been racist tours black peolple becouse I feel intimidated by them.Even though I dont mean to offend people.
I believe that all human beings at certain times in our lives we have been racist. The white against a dark complexion. The dark skinned against whites. The dark-skinned against themselves. The one country to another and so on. Me in my personal character last year during the school year I felt racist. Although I love my old math teacher, I spend all the time bothering with their color. I did not felt any type of racist in those moments. But analyzing the situation now I understand that I was. Many times we have been. Some other intentionally and unintentionally. Mine was no contempt because I love them. Actually not even the same if I had to bother. But in fact did happen. And I heartily because we are very goods friends. We have to be very careful because we may be unintentionally racist anytime.

there allot of racism in the world! and i hate it!now if your black, Asian and even Latin they makes fun of you! and there people that without knowing you, they don't accept you only because of your color or nationality! but to me honest i do some jokes my self! but i don't mean to offend anyone, I just do it to make people laugh! and i actually do it every time with my best friend and shes black! but we never do it with the intention of hurt or make someone fell bad! but still i don't really know, how a real black person would react! I think he'l laugh since i am not offending him! but there people that cant stand someone that's not like them! and I think that wrong! we are all the same inside. we make not look similar in the out side but we're still ,made from the creator and that's God. I ones saw in a TV show that there was an old man dying and he hatted anything that had to do with Asian stuff. and for his luck there was only one Doctor capable of saving him, and he was an Asian. when the old man knew that he preferred to die before any Asian touch him. and they trick the old-man telling him that there was another person that could do it! when the old man got better he ask to know who was the man that save his life, and the Asian appeared. the old man could not believe what happened but to show his gratitude. he made a special promise and it was to move to china and learn to live with them! and this made me realize that people may think they know something or someone but you never know until they look on what deeply inside!
ReplyDeleteI've been racist a lot of times honestly, sometimes without even noticing but others with intentions. I think nobody should be judge if they have piercings or tattos but in excess it doesnt look good. I see black people differently, its not that I judge them but its just not normal seeing people like that. I dont say cruel things o them or make fun of them, but I think it o myself. People say I'm black but I'm not!! My color is like a pretty honey tanned brown indian :) I may look honey tanned brown on the outside but I consider myself white. Not physically but like white on the inside. Black people are good people too, I mean they can be doctors or something important like that. For example president Obama, his color is like spicy cinammon but as you can see he turned out to be the president of US. I dont think I should change my mind about saying rascist things because I dont say them to offend anyone. Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that. Who knows I may end up marrying someone with a spicy cinammon color.

ReplyDeleteI am not a racist. I talk with black and white people because for me they are all equal. I don't know why people don't like black people. Sometimes when someone make a racist joke and I laugh later I feel bad because I don't like that people make jokes about me. Sometimes I litsen black people talking bad about white people. I think that if black people don't like that white people talk bad about them they should not make the same thing to them. I believe that we all have to respect every skin color. For now no one have being racist with me. I hope that in the future the racism end.

ReplyDeleteRacism! Is so common on this planet, all around the world we see racism, on the television, video games and internet. I’d never been a victim of racism, maybe there have been commentaries about it, but I don’t take it personal. I just laugh because I know it is a joke. People should not be criticized by their skin color or country. All the people on this world deserves respect by who they are , I mean would you like that the people said that you are not supposed to be treat like a normal person just because of your color! . If you want respect from others you should earn it by treating them just like the way you liked to be treated. My own opinion is that I like every color; you can be black, white even blue and I will not complain or criticized. Some people on this planet should take classes about manners because that just isn’t right. Also other problem is the stereotypes just because you are black it doesn’t mean you kill or sell drugs and if you are white it doesn’t mean you’re rich or I don’t know better than black people. Treat equal because we all are human not robots or toys, we have a heart and that what it counts. Dont make war, make peace.

I don't consider myself a racist person. To think that there's still racist persons in this world is very unbelievable in a not very good way.We are all humans ,all the same no matter where we come from.Personally I don't like to judge people.Ill talk to you in a nice way ,make jokes with you with caring of your colors or physical. But i do have to say that i had made some racism jokes in some sort of ways but i really don't mean them.Thought I don't like to do these jokes. I even make joke of myself sometimes just joking to laugh a little. Sincerely i respect people as I think they'll respect me. Ive seen racism and makes me mad to see how people treat some just for there color.Everyone is equal and no matter if we even have differences at least we should respect each other.
.Ill talk to you in a nice way ,make jokes with you without* caring of your colors or physical
DeleteI have never ben accused of racism but I see people every day that are accused of racism. I think that is stupid thing because no one have the power to judge someone by they appearances. First, all humans are the same so if we judge somebody we are judging ourselves. So we have to respect the others because your never know when they can help you and if you want respect you have to earn it. Some of the billionaires people use the racism because they think that they are gained respect but that’s is wrong because they are hurting people. The racism is the worst idea to gained respect but the racist people think the opposite. Because of racism occurs so many death and we do nothing. We have to fight we can let that other people judge or hurt our life. We have to teach them about the society and how different peoples can help you. So if you are accused of racism don’t be sad and keep it on that someday they will need you and they are gone see how important your are.

ReplyDeleteI think I have been or felt racist sometimes, I know it’s not my intention, but sometimes we joke with people and in those jokes we involve colors, and other things. Sometimes people joke me because I’m to white, i just laugh an ignore them. I know that in Puerto Rico, live way to many people that are racist. People should understand that we are all equal, that the color doesn't make any difference, we are all equal. If you are going to judge someone you better walk a thousand miles on their shoes and then you judge them. And I think that you would not be able to judge them then. I am white and I like black people, I really don't understand why people have to be so mean. If your black or white I don't care your fine with me. Some people think that if you’re white you’re in the high class and if you’re black you’re in the low class. Let me tell you that, that isn't correct. Bring the peace and love to the world. Let’s stop the racism. Because we start with jokes, then it could be bullying.
Everyone included myself at least one time judged someone with a discriminatory opinion about the skin color. Racist isn't only from a white person to a black person, the definition of racism include discriminatory behavior based on cultural, national or ethnic stereotypes. I know some black athletes are better that white athletes like boxers and baseball players. But if we are thinking that a white person is more intelligent or superior to a black person we are wrong, but probably I said something like this, joking. I selected the Miss Universe 2011 from Angola from the first 10 finalist, but I know sometimes I selected some items based on the color. Joke about black people or feel superior isn’t the solution to eradicate the racism, education and respect are the solutions. I know everyone is responsible for changing those attitudes and correct the mistakes. The racism exist around the world, people from Puerto Rico sometimes discriminate to the Republic Dominican people and the US people to the Mexico and Latin American. The best way to eradicate is spending time with people of different races or color and make friends with them. But we are building a better world, now the United State President and the Miss Universe 2011 are both blacks.

in all My 15 years of life, I have never experienced any kind of racism, but I know it exists and that's its there everyday. maybe sometimes we joke about color or race with someone, but its not intentional to be somewhat racist. but we have never experienced real racism, I mean the racism were people are not allowed to do things because of their gender, where people are killed just because of their skin.color, where black call white crackers and whites call.blacks niggas. that's just wrong. people shouldn't have problems because of things like that since we all should be equal. its amazing.to see things like that. we should all just live as HUMANS and not as racist douchbags who only see physical things and simply judge because of that. I hope that's changes one day :)

Racism is not only based on the criticism people make about other people's color. It's about criticize, blaspheme, laugh or make fun of the beliefs, nationality, culture, physical characteristics, etc. I confess sometimes I did jokes about white or black people but I didn't mean to offend anyone if I did. I accept I did it wrong; firstly because my grandfathers are black and my grandmothers are white so I'm a mix of both colors and I don't have the right to goof them. No one has it! But sincerely I don't discriminate them at all. I have friends and family of all colors, even my boyfriend is black :'). People's heart and personality is what matters and those doesn't have color. Ignorant people judge other people because unfair things that it's not their fault been like that. And thanks to the tiny piece of brain they have, they don't know if some of those people could had been the love of their life or even the best friend in the world you could had. Smart people gets to know the person and judge them because of their personality and their inside because we all should have the same rights. So open your heart and mind and be smart, put on their feet and think how would you feel about people criticizing you and your family without knowing a bit. You can't judge a book by it's cover and neither, even you had read half of his/her book 'cause nobody's perfect and that's the main reason and exact idea to treat everyone the S A M E! :)
I believe everyone has been racist in their life. It’s not the best way to be or think. It’s completely wrong, but sometimes we do it in jokes, comments, or thoughts. Sometimes we are racist without thinking about it that way. My little cousin received a dark colored doll as a present, and she didn’t want it because it was dark colored. She is only 6 years old by that. What did she know about being racist? Nothing, but the environment we live, unfortunately is racist. Another time I was taking to someone (who I really don’t remember now) and he was telling us about a dark colored priest. He was blind, and never knew he was dark colored. One day he was speaking to a group of people and said he hated dark colored persons. So then I thought, why does he hate them, he can’t see, but he gets carried away with what he hears. It’s incredible how many people judge others by their skin color, culture, believes, etc. they have no fault to be born so. But we are all equal, and we all have feelings which often hurt by a stupid joke or comment, or even on purpose, and I think that instead of criticizing, play and be racist we think of ourselves, if it happened to us how would it feel. I’m honest, and yes I have been racist not on color but on nationality in jokes, and I have changing that because its hurtful to see how we offend each other, and the only thing we are making noticed is that they may have better heart and feelings than us because they aren’t making comments or being racist. :)
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I don't clearly understand what racism is yet or what is considered racism. Everybody makes it so complicated. Is it only considered racism when someone prefers one race or another? Or is it when someone forms a presumption, judgement,or opinion on somebody based on their race? Some people say that it is racism depending on what that opinion is. Other times it could just be a stereotype. But some people say that all stereotypes are racist. I still need to form my own opinions on racism. But I do know that I would never treat somebody differently because of their race. I also always try to not judge or presume things about people especially by where they come from. Sure, some stereotypes are funny to hear in jokes, and some can even ring sort of true but we can't take them seriously. We need to remember that just because a person is from a certain race, doesn't mean they're going to be/act a certain way.
ReplyDelete-Grayce
Racism is a complicate theme, we may think we are not racist but in one way or another we've all been racist. Maybe it was just laughing at a simple joke or actually not talking to someone because of there skin color or judging a person from where it comes. Most people think racism is just to colored people but actually there wrong, racism is to any type of person. Yes, most racism in the word is to colored people but is not the only kind. My parents always told me to never judge a person for its color or believes. Maybe I've never felt racist but I have felt people being racist against me. One time I was walking n the street with my mom and someone actually stop the car and told to go get some color and that the sun was free. I always try to say to myself don't do what you don't want other people to do to you so I've encourage people to not be racist.
ReplyDeleteSome people may say that they are not racist, but there could have done something racist.I think that I have done something that led to that but since I have learned from that now I start acting like a person who respects others. I believe that we should not judge others for its color, culture, etc. Nobody is better than the other. You should treat people the way you want them to treat you. If you are racist, you might not get the chance to be treated the same.Sometimes, I make jokes that kind of sound racist but I never wanted to offend anyone. It comes naturally to people to make jokes like that, but some of them they don't even regret saying it. We should watch out we the things we say because chances are the following: You might be judged ,molested, or threatened later in life. I wouldn't wont to act racist or be one so I would rather just follow what I wrote.
ReplyDeleteBeing honest here... All my life I have been friends with dark skinned color people but on the dating part I have never been attracted in that way. This does not mean that I do not like dark skinned color person not at all. I have many friends like that and they are not different like the white race. We are all the same whether we like it or not. It's not fair to them to be denigrated by others when its just pigment not personality. You know just cause they are darker does mot mean they are bad. Nobody likes to feel bad ..right? well why make others . People should be treated equally. But dark persons are not the only ones being descriminated also chubby, skinny people. In someway or another people talk crap about everyone.. whether u like it or not sadly its life. People whondescriminate .. to me they just don't have heart.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that sometimes I've been racist but not directly with the person. Also I've experience racism, people mock about my color thay said that I'm more white than the milk and that i opaque the sun. I think that everyone is equal no matter what. We don't have to be mean with then and be discriminating because they are different. This make me remember of Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King jr. They fight for the civil rights of black people. Even Martin was assassinated because of that. The racism keep going but not as much as years ago. This make me think about all we have said and done to some people and think its not big deal. We need to be more careful about what we said and do. Everyone is the same no matter if we're black or white.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was small I used to say that I will never marry a black women. That was totaly racist or ar least I felt like it was. I always said that balck people where ugly, althow one of mi aunts in black. I don't have idea why I thaught like that, but I did for a long time. When I started school I kept thinking this way so all of my friends where white. If someone black tried to make friends with me I would make an excuse not to be their friend. Now I know that it doesn't maters if the person is black or white u souldn't treat anyone bad. So know I have both black and white friends. I coulk even say that some of mi best friends are black. Fortunetly I changed that thinking of mines and now i know that the skin tone doesn't makes a diferent, what does is whats inside their hearts.
ReplyDeleteDear journal.
ReplyDeleteToday someone asked me if I had ever been racist against somebody. The answer is no, and I am proud of it. I cant judge a person by their looks, I judge them by what they have inside their hearts. For example, my best friend is Japanesse. We met a long time ago, the first time I saw her I was so excited because she was from a totally different ethnic culture. If I would have been racist against her we would not have today the friendship we formed in years. This said, I cant judge a person like this because I have felt the wrongness of racism against me, it doesnt feel good. This is why I dont do it to others. Plus, who am I to judge? They cant change how they are, and sincerely I dont want them to they are awesome the way they are.

Yes, I will admit that I have been racist in some points of my life. But that when I was little and didn't think too much of what I was saying. My great grandmother used to ask me if I was going to marry a black woman. I used to say no, and she said "that's what you say now". Now obviously I think differently. Being racist is not not Only NOT liking someone's color of the skin, but stereotyping someone and judging because of their color. Like for example there are ghetto people (wich I honestly don't like). And thats mostly seen in black people, but there are also some white people that have that attitude but because theyre not black, we don't discriminate him. Even though we see some attitudes that fit white people or black people, we should discriminate for it. We were all born innocent and throughout life, we decide who we are. If you're going to say you don't like someone, say it because you know him/her enough to judge that person. But never judge just by looking at someone's skin color.

ReplyDeleteRacist...a word to decribe an ignorant person. The people that geniunely think they're better than someone else because of their race, is just down right stupid and pathetic. Alot of people when mentioned the word 'racist' automatically think a white blue eyed american, but actually alot of other people from other races are very hypocritical. I've heard puertorican people, specially elder ones, talk about dark skin people like they're bad human beigns... Me personally I've never been racist for real, but I do admit of making sarcastic jokes in the past, never with the intentions of hurting anyone though. I'm perfectly fine with all races, because infact I am a mix of them. I have friends of all skin colors so obviously I don't have a problem with people different then me phisically. I want to change my way of joking, I often say things sarcastically that are misunderstoodod or taken the wrong way, so I don't want to risk insulting someone (without knowing) about their skin color. And also I'd like to change the way racist people think, but I guess I can't do that since everyone is aloud to have different opinions. Also, what is up with most americans thinking all hispanic are mexican?
I do admit that Ive been racist in some areas in my life, I think that most people have. I've never seriously offended anyone, I've just said some racist jokes. Nowadays I look back at those moments and i feel really ashamed of myself. Throughout the years I've noticed that racism is a HUGE problem we have in this planet. People die because of racism, people kill because of racism, and people fight because of racism. Wars have been caused before cause of this matter as well. I'm against racism because I think that we were made equal. We have the same organs and body parts on the inside so I think its wrong for someone to judge just because of a skin color, their culture, or how they look on the outside. I've seen and heard from the bullying and abuse people go thru with racist people, and human beings shouldnt go thru that. Every time I go to the US I get asked where Im from, most of the people dont even know where Puerto Rico is but the worst part of all is that 99% of them ask me if Im mexican. They should really stop stereotyping just because we speak spanish or because we're hispanic. I have friends that have different cultures and that come or have parents from all around the world, I have no problem with that. I want the world to stop hating on people just because we're different.

ReplyDeleteYes, I feel I have been racist to people even though I don' t notice. We may think we're not racist at all but at some point in our life we have said a racist or insulting comment that offended someone. I remember that in fourth grade I told a girl " Get lost you big, fat, black ape!" I didn't mean to hurt her feelings but she was bothering me and had me nuts, those words just came without me thinking about it. I hurt that girls feelings badly, she didn't come to school for about 2 days. When she came, she reported me to the office. The principal had me write a page-long sorry letter to her plus I "got" a behaviour report. This is a true story, obviously made a little short, but this experience tought not to be racist. Being racist destroys your reputation plus hurts the victims feelings, I am a good person and I've learned the tough way but since then I hold my tongue and think things through. THE END
